Because the West Midlands Regional Food Academy is located at Harper Adams University College we are able to bring schools into contact with food production at farm level.
Harper Adams runs a 490 hectare commercial farm with a variety of food production enterprises, including a dairy unit, a poultry unit with egg production in different systems, a pig unit and a beef unit, as well as a sheep flock and a range or arable and crop production systems. Harper Adams is also investing in a range of sustainable energy systems, including biomass combined heat and power generation, and anaerobic digestion for the production of methane and electricity.
